Moments to Remember of 2023 🫶🏼

Well, well, well... 2023, what a year it was and who can believe it is nearly over! From trends to unexpected events 2023 kept us on our toes (and scratching our heads) from start to finish. So, grab your popcorn (or a wine) sit back, and let's take a ride down memory lane as we recap all the moments of the year!

Firstly, the year that was right here at Jean Jail HQ. We started the year off with our launch of the JNJL Basics Range, followed by the Leopard Panel Tees, and the new Beverley Tees. We also seen an AW23 and an SS23 drop for our sister brand, By. Zah. 

We had a super busy year with fresh new arrivals dropping twice every week, we had the Fraser Cosy Shacket Mocha Check taking out the most popular winter product and of course, the Little Paradise Midi Dresses was the most loved for the warmer seasons!

From maxi skirts to trench coats, this year's fashion scene was all about making a statement and having fun with your wardrobe. It was giving major 90s vibes with Shackets, Sets and all the different prints we have seen come through!

It wouldn't be a recap without the mention of the fabulous movies that graced our screens in 2023. From a beloved childhood doll to a brilliant physicist, an underwater princess, to the thrilling return to Panem in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes the year was packed with excitement, laughter, and a whole lot of entertainment. 

Some of the most talked-about TV shows of 2023. From the drama-filled lives of Beckham to the regal charm of Queen Charlotte, and the captivating journey on Firefly Lane Season 2, everyone had these on their screens at one point this year!

2023 has been an incredible year for music lovers, filled with unforgettable moments and jaw-dropping performances. From the Taylor Swift Eras Tour to Harry Styles' mesmerising shows, the music scene has been on fire. And let's not forget Beyoncé's tour and Rihanna's epic Super Bowl performance and baby announcement. It's safe to say that 2023 will go down in history as a year of musical magic and surprises.

A guilty pleasure of ours here at Jean Jail is celeb news and gossip and there sure has been plenty of it this year! 

March was the start of the big drama that was the 'Scandoval'... if you aren't familiar a quick rundown - A reality star from the Bravo show Vanderpump Rules, Tom Sandoval, cheated on his longtime girlfriend, Ariana Madix, who is also on the show, with yet another Vanderpump star, Raquel Leviss! We 100% recommend watching the tv series!!

In May, Hollywood was hit with a strike that left us all feeling like we were on a never-ending cliffhanger. From May 2 to September 27, our favourite TV shows and movies were put on hold. It was like waiting for the next season of your favourite show but without any release date in sight.

June also brought us some exciting news as Kourtney Kardashian announced her pregnancy. Baby Rocky made his grand entrance in November. 

In July we saw the app formerly known as Twitter announced a name change to X.

The end of the year consisted of a surprising duo: Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. The start of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship and unfortunately the divorce of Joe Jonas and Sophia Turner.

The Royals had an exciting year with Prince Harry releasing his first book 'Spare' on the 10th of January. And the King's Coronation that took place on the 6th of May at Westminster Abbey. 

As the final whistle blew, the Matildas left an indelible mark on the soccer world: their passion, skill, and unwavering spirit inspired fans around the globe. Matildas 2023 was a tournament filled with unforgettable moments.

We have seen plenty of TikTok trends come and go across our screens again this year, some of the biggest being; Tube Girl, The Roman Empire, Euro summer and with this one follows the Attenzione Pickpocket Audio, the Bird's Eye View trend and so many more!! 

Along with the good moments of 2023 comes the heartbreak, we have said goodbye to some very memorable people. Barry Humphries passed away on the 22nd of April, Tina Turner passed on the 24th of May,  Euphoria actor Angus Cloud died on the 31st of July, Friends favourite Matthew Perry passed on the 28th of October, Johnny Ruffo died on the 10th of November and Brooklyn's Nine Nine actor Andre Braugher passed on the 11th of December.

As we bid farewell to 2023, we can't help but look back with a smile on our faces. It was a year filled with unexpected surprises, laughter, and a healthy dose of weirdness. So, here's to the memories we made and the adventures that await us in the years to come. Cheers to 2023, you crazy little year!
