2021… Where do we even begin!? After a crazy year in 2020 with all things Covid, we were lucky enough to have moments of freedom throughout the year, which were filled with celeb engagements, exciting things at JJ HQ and even some amazing on screen moments to entertain us during those lockdowns. If you haven’t been keeping up with the goss this year, we have you covered on everything 2021!

2021 wasn’t the best at times.. in and out of lockdowns all year! Although we definitely celebrated a few highs here at Jean Jail HQ - we moved our store and warehouse to a brand new location! Lots of renovations and styling was needed to make this the perfect space, but it was so worth it. Our new cafe Koko Avenue opened in early August! We also launched not one, but 4 collections, yep you heard that right, 4!!

There were so many moments that happened on our screens this year from tv shows, movies and social media, so we've just chosen a few of our favourites… 

The first is an obvious one - Outer Banks season 2! In late July we were blessed with this new season which quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. 

Our next must see on screen moment was Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. That’s all we are going to say… If you haven’t watched this yet then what are you doing?! Go watch it after you have finished reading this blog!!

One of the most famous TikTok superstars appeared in a Hollywood blockbuster this year - Addison Rae! Addison starred in the new romcom ‘He’s All That’, an updated remake of ‘She’s All That’. The movie was given many different reviews, you will need to watch this one yourself to see what you think!

A huge amount of new movies and TV shows came out this year! On our must watch list are Squid Gamest, Red Notice, After We Collided and of course the new Spider-Man: No Way Home.

2021 has been the year for Celeb engagements! Twilight actor Taylor Lautner proposed to his longtime girlfriend Tay Dome in November, announced with an Instagram post captioned ‘And just like that, all of my wishes came true’. We are obsessed with Kourtney Kardashian’s jaw-dropping engagement ring! After Bella Thorne said “yes” to Benjamin Mascolo back in March, she too got him an engagement ring to solidify their engagement even further… How cute!!

Although there were many happy moments throughout 2021, there was also heartbreak. After 2 years of dating, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello broke up due to their hectic work schedules. The couple announced their split on Instagram - "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another is stronger than ever."

This next one broke our hearts - the splitting of Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline. The couple broke up after less than 2 years together! I guess their relationship just wasn’t as strong as John B. and Sarah’s….

A relationship that took us all by surprise, ended the same way! Zac Efron and Vanessa Valladares went their separate ways but no one knows exactly why. Some are saying it was because he has a busy year of filming ahead, whilst some are saying it didn’t feel right to him anymore… Why do you think it ended??

There were soooo many gorgeous celeb babies born this year, it's hard to pick our faves, but here's a few! Of course we can't go past Perrie Edwards' son Axel. Fellow Little Mix star Leigh Anne Pinnock welcomed twins with her partner Andre Gray on 16 August. Other celeb babies that were welcomed to the world this year included, Pfeiffer Lucia Speedman - daughter of Scott Speedman and Iris - daughter of Emily VanCamp.

Although we spend a lot of the year battling with mandatory masks and vaccinations, lockdowns and borders shutting - thanks covid! I think it’s fair to say 2021 was still a pretty good year with many highlights!
